Pooper Boy!

YEAH! Guess who went POOP on the potty today for the first time?!!? So....since we already got that out of the way this morning, we decided to be BRAVE & try wearing underwear today! I am hoping he follows everyone else. We've been able to get them all trained by 2 1/2...so he has until the end of May! LOL

Oh, now Zander is on the toilet & thinks HE should get some M&M's too for *pooping* in the potty! I managed to get him to turn around now & sit the RIGHT way on the toilet, so I guess M&M's are in store for him too! He's been doing it the right way for probably the last month or two.

PlayHouse bit the Dust...

From today's WIND........
And I got a little dent in the van. I had it parked outside (cause I'm getting ready for the garage sale) and the basketball hoop blew over into the van. GRRRRR.

Saturday Night....

I am EXHAUSTED. I think tonight will be the night to catch up on sleep.

I got a call Wednesday night asking if I wanted to set up tables at the Civic Center Garage Sales. They were held today from 8-2. She had someone cancel on her & had 3 tables left. I said sure. I had 4 totes of stockpile stuff already priced & all the kids clothes marked for the garage sale I'm planning on having this coming weekend (the 18th/19th). Set up was Friday night & Saturday before the sale. Well we were suppose to get our family pictures for the church directory but ended up changing that to next week. Then the kids (3 of the 4) got invited to a bday party & were going swimming. So we sent them to the party & Phil, Zach, & I loaded up the van (FULL LOAD!) & headed to the Civic Center.

We only had 3 tables. I filled one plus w/ stockpile items & Phil filled one w/ his prints & sports cards. I then decided I'd bring all the clothes I had marked for the rest of the table & also a clothing rack full of clothes. So we finished there & then headed to Swanny's for supper. Boy was that odd eating out with only one child!! And he was very well behaved too. He was content with pouring parm. cheese on his plate & eating that while waiting for his food!!

I had to set the alarm for 6:00 this morning. Nick & I were out the door by 6:20. With another fully loaded van, we got everything set up by around 7:00 & waited for the doors to open at 8:00. It was a very successful sale for me, but it sure tired me out!!

Phil had to go into work tonight (Sat night!) so his work week will be over Thursday morning. Works out great. He can help get the garage sale set up & help on Friday!

This shows I was only 6 seconds behind Phil & came in right after him but I'm sure there were a couple of people ahead of me or maybe I did come in right after him?? I was in such a deliousional state at the end I'm really not sure! I guess I'll take their word for it. (We had chips on our shoes that timed us as we crossed the mat to start & to finish...pretty high tech!)

I see the girl Phil said he crossed the finish line with was only 24 yrs old. Way to go old man...beating that young chic.

The pink shirt guy....he was 42 yrs old & came in 6 seconds after me. Another one I beat by a whoppin' 3 seconds...a 12 yr old girl!! Some of those young kids out running really amazed me.

New Ulm is having a 1/2 mile & 1 mile kids run in May. I'm gonna sign Nick & Lexi up for it, thinking Nick would do the mile, Lexi the 1/2 mile. But Nick says no, he just wants to do the 1/2 mile too. We gotta whip that boy into shape, no reason he can't do a mile if his old folks are doing 5 miles!!!

My calves are a little sore today, think I will be hitting it light at the gym tonight. I found some bruises on my legs the other day & asked Phil what the heck he does to me while I'm sleeping.......well we figured it out.....they are from a weight machine at the gym! Ouch, I better lighten up on that one!

Oh, I was wearing my HR monitor while running yesterday & it gives me my high HR & average from the workout and yesterday for the first time....I hit the high of 99%. What happens if you hit 100%? Is that when you keel over & die? Or puke your guts out? I guess I missed that at the end of the race...Phil asked if I had seen the piles right at the finish line. Nope, thank god I didn't see it or I probably would have added to them!!!

Fools Five Race

Well WE DID IT!!! Phil & I ran the 8k race today. That's 4.97 MILES. Of RUNNING. 4.97........WITH a KILLER hill.

We registered this morning at 9:30...weather looked ok, a little windy. Rain was forecasted for later in the day. We decided we'd walk to the starting point (about a mile) as our warm up. We were gonna leave around noon, race started at 1:00. Well I think it was around 11:30 it starts to drizzle....then the sidewalks got all wet.....yep it was raining. Not a hard rain but not a rain I wanted to run in. So we said forget the warm up walk, we need a ride! So David dropped us off at the school around 12:15 or so. We stayed in the school for awhile to stay dry. Headed to the starting point around 12:45.....it had stopped raining!! I think the sun may have even peeked a bit. But the wind was still there. Shotgun start at 1:00.....we hit the 1 mile mark at 9 mins 42 seconds...whoa Phil we gotta slow down! I can run a mile in 10 mins but if I'm gonna run 5 miles, I gotta go at a 11 1/2 min/mile pace. This was almost 2 mins faster!

We did slow down but was still going faster than I'm used to. Phil pushed me hard!! I'm guessing it was around 3 1/2 miles that I needed to walk...so we did for 60 seconds...1 minute. That was all he let me walk! I was allowing myself at least 5 minutes. We came near the end (uphill & against the wind too which sucked) and Phil says "let's beat that guy in the pink shirt" Huh!? Excuse me!? I'm about ready to keel over & you want to RUN now?? Ya ya I know I said I was gonna kick it in at the end & leave him in the dust.....but who was I kidding??? He kicked my arse. He runs 3 times & I've been running for 4 months. He actually was surprised I ran the way I did with the way I breathe. He says I don't know how to breathe & was panting the whole 5 miles. I'd say I was just dying for the last 2 miles. So Phil kicks it up a notch and pulls ahead of me.....well I did my best & gave it what I got & I too beat the guy in the pink shirt...and the young kid that was walking/running. Final results haven't been posted yet, but we both came in at just over 52 minutes. I think Phil beat me by about 10 seconds. I was thinking we'd do it in around 57 minutes.....so we beat that!

Five flippin' MILES.....can you believe that?? That is a LONG ways to run. I still can't believe I did it. What an accomplishment. I was pretty sore when we were done & kind of scared to see how I feel in the morning!!

Lexi was the video camera girl & took this video beforehand.........then she said she *forget* to record when we were running! Nick was the camera man & took a picture when I ran by him....JUST as I threw off my jacket, so it's a shot of my jacket!!! That was all he got! Marcie took some & I will post those as soon as she emails them to me!

S U C C E S S

That's the way we spell SUCCESS!

I went to the meeting tonight regarding our property taxes & they agreed to revise our house value........dropping it by about $30,000!! We are still stuck with paying the taxes on the higher value this year, but next year it should drop a few hundred dollars. Phil went to the meeting last year & didn't have any luck with them changing it......I went tonight & barely had to say anything, they lowered it basically with me just showing up!

I went in to the meeting (thinking it was just a one on one thing but here it was in front of the whole city council! YIKES!) and just said "We disagree with the amount our property was valued at & wanted to know who valued it & how they came up with that number" The county auditor or whoever just started talking & next thing I heard was he proposed to lower our value by about 20%. Um, ok, fine with me that was actually more than we had thought, but we'll take it!

I was there a whole five minutes.

Guess it takes a woman to handle things like this, huh!?

Yet another new WORK OUT Plan....

So you may....or may not.......have noticed I haven't been posting my work out details. I'm still doing it, just quit posting about it here. I'm doing the Presidents Challenge & keeping track of it on that site. I think it's been about 6 weeks since I started the circuit training. I wasn't able to lose any weight on it, but I know I've built up some muscle & I have gone done a pant size. So officially down 2 sizes.......and I think I could actually wear a size smaller. But....I've been spending more than our clothing budget allows the last couple of months so I better just wear out what I got now.

Ok, so on to this next new workout! I recently finished up the book CARDIO FREE DIET by Jim Karas. I decided that wasn't the plan I wanted to try. Although I believe it probably works, I'm not one to count calories & watch what I eat & that was a good part of the plan. So no go for me, I like to EAT, thank you very much.

I was reading my friend Danielle's blog this morning. Danielle lives in the Twin Cities & we met through one of the Ebay message boards. I've met her a few times when our group had dinner together. Anyhow, she has been doing Weight Watchers for the last year & also works out. She looks AWESOME. Well, I haven't seen her in person since she's lost all her weight, but from the pictures can tell she is one hot mama! Anyhow, she was 240 a year ago & today is 170!! She lost 70 pounds through a LOT of hard work! She posted about the Couch25k program that I tried & now she posted another work out plan that I'm gonna try. Well let's say I DID try it this morning.

I'm still reading about it & just printed off a chart that I hope will help. It's a 3/day week program so I'm gonna alternate that & the other 3 day one I do. It's a high intensity interval training program. Work fast for X/time, slow for X/time. Do that for 4 mins the first week, build it up to 15 mins by Week 8...and then you are DONE. That is the workout. So I will be able to cut my workout sessions hopefully by 30 minutes!

I'm having one problem with this & may need to go to the doctor. My heart rate. It always is running high. The program wants you to be at 90-95% rate on the intense part down to..oh I can't remember on the lower part. So for me I should be at 166 or higher down to 120 on the slow part. My HR doesn't go that low, it's always around 140 even when I slow down. Phil thinks maybe I have some blockage because of all the bacon/egg breakfasts I have. I eat that, what maybe 2-3x week? And not always bacon, but he seems to know.

Anyhow, I talked to the trainer today & he said the only way to know if something is wrong is to have an EKG done. I'm taking Zander in next week for his 4 yr check & will talk to my doctor more about it then. I'm also gonna test my sitting rate tonight. When I have timed it, it's like 80-90 when I'm sitting, I think normal is around 60.

So starting next week, this new HIIT (if you want to google it!) program is gonna kick my butt!!!

On a side note, wish me luck tonight. Since Phil is on afternoons this week, I have to go to the meeting. We are disagreeing with our property taxes cause they went way up. Hello, housing market STINKS right now, prices are dropping and you think our house value should go UP??? No way would it sell for what they say it's worth. So I gotta go read an article he put out for me to read before I try to argue our case. I better get off here & go read it so I sound somewhat smart tonight!!
